Eveย has opened up about the time Janet Jackson โsaved her lifeโ after her drink was possibly spiked.
The revelation comes courtesy of the former Ruff Ryders rapperโs new memoir Whoโs That Girl?, which hit shelves last week.
In the book, Eve recalls Janet, as well asย Missy Elliott, coming to her aid after she suspected that her drink had been tampered with at a party following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2007.
โMissy came in to check on me, but I was just unable to collect myself. Then who walks in, Janet Jackson. I had never met her before, and so her first introduction to me was seeing me hysterical,โ she writes.
โNone of that mattered to Janet; she actually just sprang into action and told people to get aspirin, water, hot sauce, and a piece of white bread. That concoction knocked me right out of my hysteria. So basically Janet Jackson saved my life.โ
Several memories and revelations from Whoโs That Girl? have made headlines leading up to its release.
In another excerpt that made waves online,ย Eve remembered receiving a congratulatory phone call from JAY-Zย after the release of her debut album Let There Be EveโฆRuff Rydersโ First Lady in 1999.
However, the Roc-A-Fella rhymer also cautioned her to keep her feet on the ground as female MCs donโt โreally do that well.โ
Eve later clarified the story while appearing onย The Breakfast Club,ย reassuring fans that Hovโs comments werenโt said with ill-intent.
โItโs funny because that was one of those things that we were like, โDo we put this in there?โ because you know how people get,โ she said. โBut there was nothing bad about that.
โIt was a very amazing phone call that I needed. I always felt like I was the underdog anyway. And he wasnโt saying it out of malice or [to be] mean. It wasnโt about that. It was facts, really!
When Charlamagne interjected to suggest that JAY-Z was merely trying to โtemper [Eveโs] expectations,โ she replied: โYes, exactly. But I was like, โOkay, lemme see. Iโma show you. Itโs all good, and it went on to be fine.โ
