Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, known in entertainment spheres as Sarkodie has in a new diss track narrated his side of his involvement in the life of filmmaker Yvonne Nelson, and the pairโs contentious abortion rift.
Yvonne Nelson in her recently published tell-it-all memoir, โI am not Yvonne Nelsonโ, disclosed that she had had an affair with the rapper in 2010 which had resulted in a pregnancy.
In Chapter 8 of the memoir, she recounts her decision to abort the pregnancy because the rapper did not accept responsibility.
According to the ‘The Men We Love’ moviemaker, she later found out that the Tema rapper had another girlfriend who was studying at a university abroad thus his rejection.
However, responding to Yvonne Nelsonโs allegation, Sarkodie in his new release song โTry Meโ, an explicit reply to Yvonne, conveys he never urged the actress to have the pregnancy terminated.
Sarkodie proceeded and added that, while he was not willing to be a dad, he had told her to keep the pregnancy but Yvonne preferred to go ahead with the termination due to her education at the time.
โSo donโt you make it seem like I was the one pushing you for abortion,โ he uttered in ‘Try Me’.
‘Obidi’ as he is affectionately called by fans croons that there are a couple of things he had thought he would take to his grave, implying the abortion could have stayed confidential, however, he applauds her for her courage in telling the story but says Yvonne cannot pick and choose what to tell the world.
Again, he sounds off Yvonne should not play the victim and create the belief that she was looking for love.
โBaby girl make you no try meโ, he gives notice.
