Some purported governing party, NPP ‘thugs’ furiously invaded the studios of Accra-based TV channel, United Television studios on Saturday night, October 7, 2023, unexpectedly stopping the live broadcast of the weekend entertainment and arts-focused program, United Showbiz.
Their company and unnerve cacophony in the studio compelled the production to come to a standstill pithily after the host of the show MzGee’s salutation.
These persons had barged into the studio with the conspicuous purpose of meeting face to face with regular pundit Kwame Asare Obeng, known in showbiz circles as A-Plus who had in a previous episode forcefully chid the ruling NPP, especially for issuing a letter seeking the show’s reform.
The vociferous musician turned politician had denounced the content of the letter and challenged its appropriateness, describing it as “useless” and contending that such letters could impair the NPP’s stature and potentially undermine media freedom, as unassailable by constitutional provisions.

Quoting exact submission: “We are waiting for A Plus today… A Plus has to explain to us why he tore our paper from the NPP party. We are here, we are waiting for A Plus. We are protecting our party property,”

The NPP leadership had previously written to UTV, expressing concerns about the United Showbiz program’s panellists continually denouncing and mocking the NPP administration, they questioned the program’s rationales and pointed out a significant upsurge in mocking comments aimed at the party.
