The hip-hop world is mourning the loss of American rapper Rich Homie Quan, who passed away at the age of 33 in Georgia. Authorities confirmed the artistโs death, with the Fulton County Medical Examiner stating that Atlantaโs Grady Memorial Hospital notified them of his passing on Thursday.
Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, gained fame in 2013 with his breakout hit “Type of Way,” and followed it up with the 2015 smash “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).” Despite his rapid rise to fame, the rapperโs sudden death has left fans and friends in shock. After the teamโs Rose Bowl victory on January 1, 2014, Quanโs track “Type of Way” became the squadโs anthem, blaring through the locker room as players and coaches celebrated their hard-fought win over Stanford. Dantonio posted a picture of the two embracing after the game, writing, “RIP @RichHomieQuan. Special Time, Special Place with Special People,” and ending the post with a praying hands emoji.
