Tyrese Gibson recently revealed that he could potentially be arrested at an upcoming court appearance regarding his ongoing child support dispute with his ex-wife.
Over the weekend, the Grammy Award nominee shared that he would be attending court on Monday morning (Sept. 9) for a hearing regarding his legal battle with Samantha Lee, whom Gibson married in 2017 before announcing their divorce in December 2020.
The California native took to social media to express his belief that the judge presiding over the case, Kevin M. Farmer, and his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, are colluding against him due to a conflict of interest involving Lee’s legal counsel.
“At 9am in the morning in Atlanta I might be arrested in court,” Gibson wrote in an Instagram post that’s since been deleted. According to the actor, Lee’s lawyers, Adam Gleklin and William Anderson, are good friends with Farmer, who he believes could seek retaliation for the singer filing appeals seeking Farmer’s removal from the case.
“We are APPEALLING (sic) ALL OF HIS RULINGS AND ALREADY HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS JUDGE THROWN OFF THE BENCH TWICE,” he wrote on Sunday. “The second time we tried to get him recused from the bench. He actually denied his own request to be thrown off the bench …imagine that???”
The singer also accused Farmer of “illegally” breaking his prenuptial agreement with Lee, which he says was “detailed and specific” and raising his child support payments from $3,600 per month to $10,690 per month simply because the judge “felt like it.”
“It’s pretty clear that they hate my guts, but I must remind them and everything about my life and my success. I’ve worked my a** off since I was 14 years old to get here,” he added. “#FamilyLawCourts are the WORST TOWARDS FATHERS.”
In a subsequent Instagram post, Tyrese contined to lament his issues with his ex-wife and him potentially being arrested for the first time in his life. He also discussed his belief that the law and judicial system favors women when it comes to legal battles between women and men.
“When you were born a man, you go into a courtroom and you understand clearly that there is a preset menu that says, ‘You were born a man, f**k you.’ That’s what the preset menu says,” he said.
However, Gibson maintained that he’s remained in good spirits despite his trials and tribulations while promoting his new album, Beautiful Pain, and film, 1992. “I’ve been laughing, smiling, having fun doing my interviews. My vibrations and my energy has been up and I’ve been over here silently and quietly in a certain capacity fighting these attacks,” the crooner insisted.
Gibson added his belief that he shouldn’t be subjected to such treatment given the terms of his prenuptial agreement with Lee and expressed his desire to be left alone by Lee’s legal team. “Why does Samantha’s lawyers just request all of my bank statements? Why are they sending screenshots of my IMDB page?” he questioned. “Leave me the f**k alone, man. I did a prenuptial agreement for a reason.”
