Yankee Stadium: Nas Eulogises Kool Herc, Settles Differences With Mc Shan

Rapper Nas has given flowers to DJ Kool Herc for his contributions to Hip Hop.

The Stillmatic rapper eulogized the Father of Hip Hop during the Hip Hop 50 show at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on Friday (August 11). The Queens denizen emerged to kneel before the OG, extolling his effort for all but creating the genre in the first place.
โ€œKool Herc, thank you,โ€ he said. โ€œWe all thank you! We love you!โ€

Herc then gave his signature move by holding his crossed arms above his head โ€” though, in a bittersweet move, it was also revealed that the elder statesman was far removed from his younger halcyon days, as heโ€™d been walking with a cane. Check out the tribute below.

The legendary DJ has been credited with being the founder of a lot of elements of modern Hip Hop, including the break, the funk undertones, and even dubbing the word โ€œbreakdancingโ€ to refer to the popular dance style of the 1980s. Herc (government name Clive Campbell) was also recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the music influence category.
