Amapiano music pioneer DJ Sumbody has passed away.
The hitmaker, given name Oupa John Sefoka, allegedly died in a hail of bullets in the early hours of Sunday morning in Johannesburg.

His family confirmed news of his passing in a statement released on Sunday.
The family said:
Artist and musician DJ Sumbody has died. Details of his untimely death cannot be released but the artist allegedly ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his passing in the early hours of Sunday morning, November 20 2022.

The family said details of his passing could not be disclosed as they were part of an investigation which was underway.
Sefoka who broke into the industry with his hit track, Monate mpolaye featuring musician Cassper Nyovest, was on his way from a performance in Woodmead. He was due to perform at the All White Veuve Clicquot Picnic on Sunday.
In a statement, the family said: โThe Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management have kindly requested privacy during this difficult time and will release a statement in due course.”
Messages of support continued to pour in on social media for the star.
