August 13: Lefthanders Day 2023 Observed Globally

The day is observed on August 13 yearly all over the world.
It strives to celebrate the essence and challenges of the Left-handers society. Again, the occasion’s objective is to work on the challenges left-handers face and cater for their unique needs.

This year’s celebration centres around the theme, โ€œLeft-Handers in Sports.โ€
The theme intends to facilitate left-hand players and also recognize and honour all lefthanded sports personalities. 

Background

There is disarray concerning the origin of International Left-Handers Day.
According to NDTV, the left-hander’s day was first coined in 1976 by Dean R. Campbell, founder of Lefthanders International, Inc. 

On the other pointer, the Left-Handers Club created in 1990 established International Left-Handers Day in 1992. The day kicked into the widespread awareness of challenges confronted by left-handers in everyday life. 

It was formally a platform to fetch all the left-handers to one forum. Varied programs and events are organised on this day to raise awareness about the special needs of all the left-handers. 

From inception to now, the day has ushered in enhanced product design and tremendous acceptance in society. Also, this day is an opportunity to let your right-handed pals do some good for you.
