Ghanaian-American based gospel vocalist/songsmith Sonnie Badu has recently disclosed that he is inspired by Nigerian music superstars, Burna Boy and Davido.

The Atlanta-Georgia based clergy states that he draws inspiration from the versatility and success of these two Afrobeat artists, and he learns from them to make significant contributions to the gospel fraternity as they do.

On UTV’s United Showbiz last weekend, the adorable Presenter, Mzgee hosted a conversation with the gospel sensation who shared how his inspiration comes from the musical journeys and experiences of these two artists. He expressed admiration for the ‘Alone’ and ‘Available’ hitmakers’ unique musical style and the global impact of their Afrofusion sound.

“I am inspired by Davido and Burna Boy, I have seen the kind of music they do , so I like to learn what they are doing so I can do it in the gospel space. I can’t say I don’t listen to secular music, that would be a lie , I do hear it and I enjoy it. I do listen to secular music to see what I can do better,” he emphasized.

Sonnie Badu proceeded and asserted that listening to tunes that are not gospel tunes is not a problem. He revealed that he sometimes listens to other genres besides gospel music to gain knowledge and apply it to his work. He stressed the importance of obtaining inspiration from various genres and artists, even if they are not related to gospel music.
