Chuck Dย has never been afraid to tackle sensitive topics head on, and the legendary rapper is now calling forย the N-Word to be banned from Twitter.

On Friday (December 2), theย Public Enemyย frontmanย tweeted directly to Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, about his concerns regarding the use of the word on the social media platform.

โ€œYo @elonmusk the next thing twitter should do is ban the N-Word the N**ga & ni**er by anyone that uses it here,โ€ Chuck D wrote. โ€œThen we know things are pointing in an equalized direction. Then you can convince Zuck to do the same at IG FB get it outta here suspend em. Itโ€™s as bad as that symbol.โ€

In a second tweet, he continued: โ€œIt ainโ€™t like kicking somebodyโ€™s tail in a fight. Itโ€™s all words and images here .. keyboard sht โ€ฆ so Iโ€™m not talking about anywhere else except social media right now because it can be done .. there gonna be a lotta people backbroke over their โ€˜petโ€™ getting smashed on here.โ€

After receiving some backlash from other users who didnโ€™t agree with his idea, the โ€œFight the Powerโ€ MC doubled down on his stance.

โ€œSocial Medias pet dog .. hey the original MC rule was never get lazy with W O R D S,โ€ he wrote. โ€œThey have impact..some folk gettin all ass-hurt because I suggested taking one bad tooth out of their keyboard grill. Itโ€™s not censorship itโ€™s against stupidsht. Everything is mixed in 1 BS bowl.โ€

Chuck D raised the issue on Twitter afterย Kanye Westย wasย suspended again from the platformย for posting a photo of a swastika and expressing his admiration for Adolph Hitler and the Nazis.ย

Kanye continued his antisemitic commentary whileย making an appearance onย Infowars,ย hosted byย far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

โ€œI like Hitler,โ€ he said with his face covered up with a mask, โ€œI love Jewish people, but I also love Nazis.โ€

โ€œThe Jewish media has made us feel like the Nazis and Hitler have never offered anything of value to the world,โ€ he continued. โ€œI see good things about Hitler, also.โ€

According to Twitterโ€™sย Hateful Conduct Policy,ย the app does not promote any speech or violence against anyone โ€œon the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.โ€

Interestingly,ย Twitterย experienced a 500 percent increaseย in the use of the N-word in the first 12 hours of Muskโ€™s ownership.

Besides attempting to keep Twitter free of racial hate, the โ€œStrong Islandโ€ native recentlyย announced the releaseย ofย Fight The Power: How Hip Hop Changed The Worldย on PBS which premieres on January 31, 2023, and will be available on all streaming platforms.

Per the press release, the four-part series will feature appearances from Grandmaster Caz, Ice-T, Abiodun Oyewole (The Last Poets), Roxanne Shantรฉ, Run-DMC, John Fortรฉ, will.i.am, MC Lyte, B-Real (Cypress Hill), Melle Mel, Fat Joe, Lupe Fiasco, and many others.

โ€œThe Hip Hop community has, from the start, been doing what the rest of media is only now catching up to,โ€ Chuck D said in a statement about the docu-series. โ€œLong before any conglomerate realized it was time to wake up, hip hop had been speaking out and telling truths.โ€
