Accra-based Joy FM’s “Open House Party” with renowned DJ Black was in full swing this past Saturday when popular Afrobeat sensation Kelvynboy graced the show. The lively session saw the two delve into music, experiences, and an exciting revelation about one of the iconic collaborations in Ghanaian music—Sarkodie’s 2018 hit song “Didi.”

During the show, DJ Black played “Didi,” a track from Sarkodie’s critically acclaimed Highest album, featuring Kelvynboy and Strongman. The song, which is one of DJ Black’s favorite tracks, stirred a wave of nostalgia as the DJ recounted how a regular listener consistently messages him every time the song is played, expressing his deep connection to the tune.

However, the moment that caught both DJ Black and the audience off guard was Kelvynboy’s disclosure about the song’s chorus. For the first time, Kelvynboy revealed that the chorus of “Didi” was actually composed by Sarkodie himself. This revelation left DJ Black visibly surprised, as many—including industry insiders—had assumed Kelvynboy was the sole creator of the chorus.
Kelvynboy, known for his hit song “Down Flat,” explained that he only added the hook during the recording session, while Sarkodie crafted the chorus, showcasing the multifaceted talents of the Tema-based rapper. “The rest,” as Kelvynboy put it, “is history.”
“Didi” stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit in Ghana’s music industry, featuring the lyrical prowess of Sarkodie, Strongman, and the rising star Kelvynboy. The track was produced by award-winning beatmaker MOG Beatz and expertly mastered by sound engineer Possigee.
This interaction between DJ Black and Kelvynboy not only brought fresh insights into the making of “Didi,” but also cemented the track’s status as a classic in Ghanaian music history, beloved by enthusiasts and industry figures alike.
As fans proceed to soak and enjoy “Didi,” this recent revelation adds a new layer of appreciation for the creative genius behind the track. DJ Black’s “Open House Party” once again proves to be a platform for engaging conversations and exclusive scoops, much to the delight of its listeners.
