MUSIGA Went To Polls & Elected Bessa Simons As Union Head

Highlife legend thespian Bessa Simons has been voted for as the substantive President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

In elections carried across the country on Tuesday, October 10 under the oversight of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC), the MUSIGA Vice President beat his only opponent, Ras Caleb, to emerge the victor.

Bessa Simons canvassed a total of 324 votes against his contenderโ€™s 66.

The polls have been long in coming as the Union has been hit with several cases, which have secured injunctions on the exercise.

The recent by complainants Doe Kwablah Seyenam Nyamadi and Frederick Van Dyk was thrown out by an Accra High Court in August, making room for Tuesdayโ€™s polls.

Since the tenure of Bice Osei Kuffuor, famously known in showbiz space as Obour, ended, the Union has been without a substantive Head.

The “Aworyi” hitmaker Bessa Simons has held the torch since 2018.
