Sarkodie apologises to Samini for getting into his feelings live on radio

Samini & Sarkodie

Award-winning rapper, Sarkodie has apologised for any hard feelings he may have caused dancehall artiste, Samini.

Samini accused him of ignoring his requests to collaborate after the duo had linked up for Sarkodieโ€™s โ€˜Love Rocksโ€™ in 2014.

The dancehall artiste called Sarkodie out on social media for supposedly expressing reluctance to jump on the formerโ€™s projects.

But speaking onย Hitz FMย on Tuesday, Sarkodie insisted that utterances must have come from a โ€œcertain placeโ€ for which reason he would need more details.

On the back of that, the Landlord, as he is popularly known, says he will respond accordingly once he is furnished with the full facts of the matter from Samini himself.Shortly after this reaction, Samini joined the conversation over the phone. He re-echoed his sentiments to host, Andy Dosty, who sought a response from the โ€˜Country Sideโ€™ crooner.

โ€œHim feeling like that, I donโ€™t have any control over that. I can only say sorry about how he feels. Not necessarily because I agree with everything he is saying,โ€ Sarkodie said.

While acknowledging the outburst, Sarkodie, however, indicated that he does not agree with the rationale behind his accusations. He said that there are many reasons why instances like these occur.

Per his clarification, he is sometimes hesitant to do certain features โ€œnot because the music is not goodโ€, but โ€œyou can hear a song that is so good but maybe you donโ€™t hear yourself and then youโ€™re trying to find a pocket in the song and then one day you do it.โ€

โ€œThere are some songs when they sent it to you, itโ€™s like two seconds. Maybe probably, if I send you a song and you loved it in the moment, you did it. I didnโ€™t figure it out and Iโ€™m not talking about him, it could happen,โ€ he said.

Background

In 2014, Sarkodie tapped into Saminiโ€™s reggae dexterity and released โ€˜Love Rocksโ€™. The reggae track was hailed as a great collaboration between the rap and reggae circles in the country. Nearly a decade on, there appears to be some bad blood between the two artistes, at least from Saminiโ€™s perspective.

A sudden rant by Samini on Twitter suggests some pain he is habouring about a past situation with Sarkodie over expected collaborations. It was triggered by a fan who asked the dancehall artistes when fans could expect another collaboration from the duo.

Saminiโ€™s response was one that many did not expect.

โ€œNot sure Iโ€™ll need a verse from sark but if he ever does need one Iโ€™m not interested and thatโ€™s facts. He knows this himself.. )y3 Alo sometimes and I donโ€™t play that. He says the โ€˜No Pressureโ€™ croonerโ€™s supposed reluctance to give a concrete response to requests for features affected his 2021 Burning EP.

โ€œYes or no be problem for am so e go slow you and your project go dull โ€ฆ, he did it to me on burning EP,โ€ he replied.

The Twitter user, AmarexJay, further probed if the problem at the time may have been a matter of mixing business with pleasure. He accused Sarkodie of share unwillingness to return the 9-year-old favour. According to him, his verse on Sarkodieโ€™s โ€˜Love Rockโ€™ was done for free and delivered in 24 hours. This is why he considers the rapper a hypocrite.

โ€œHeโ€™s just Allo [sic] when it comes to returning favors,โ€ adding that โ€œunlike him I do my own hooks and verses and I donโ€™t need features to blow. Like I die lol.โ€

In that same tweet, he poked Sarkodie; โ€œSarkodie, you know what time it is we shoot direct.โ€
