Chalewote Art Carnival Relocated To Osu

This year’s Chale Wote art carnival is flip-flopping to a new venue .

Osu is its new terminus and will recreate innholder to thousands of patrons from Ghana and across the globe.

Within a three-mile radius jogging from the Court Complex to Black Star Square through to the Osu vicinity, there will be grandiose sceneries and sounds. 

Side attractions such as photo exhibitions, street painting, graffiti murals, interactive installations, street boxing, movie screenings, and processions of cultures, just to mention a few, will line the streets.

According to the Director of the Chale Wote Festival, Mantse Aryeequaye mentioned in an interview that the new venue will give the street carnival a vaster space to display its rich African lineage.

He made this disclosure at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Multimedia Group, the new media partner for this yearโ€™s event.

โ€œWeโ€™ve relocated to Osu. From Independence Square into the Osu township, weโ€™re talking about where the High Court Complex is, down to the Independence Square, into the Osu Castle, into the Osu community, all the way down to Oxford Street, and all up to the Osu Cemetery traffic light coming towards Accra Sports Stadium, rounding it back into Independence Square,โ€ he said .

This yearโ€™s occasion is scheduled to come off from Monday, August 21 to August 27, 2023.
