‘He Was Honest’ – Faith Evans Spoke Of Biggie

***By Edem Latsu Nukafu***

Adorable Faith Evans paid homage to The Notorious B.I.G. as being โ€œhonest.โ€ Evans was quizzed about her deceased honey bug during a recent chat with the Marriage or Mirage podcast. The hosts questioned her what she adored about the Brooklyn rapper the most, to which Faith talked of his sincerity.

โ€œEverything. I loved everything about him. He was honest. You understand? One thing about him, even at that young age โ€” honest,โ€ she said, glowing with joy. โ€œYo, I respect it. I canโ€™t take anything else. B.I.G. is the ni**a like, I [asked him], โ€˜Did you f**k her?โ€™ Heโ€™d be like, โ€˜Yeah.โ€™ And Iโ€™ll be like (visibly taken aback).โ€

She counted, โ€œHonest as f**k. Most of the time, I didnโ€™t know what was going on, but when I did, I asked him, and he told [me] the truth. And then Iโ€™d be like, โ€˜You know Iโ€™m a f**k her up, right?’โ€

Affectionately called Frank White and Faith came across each other at a Bad Boy Records photoshoot in 1994. The pair quickly hit it off and tied the knot after figuring out each other for a week. Faith Evans and The Notorious B.I.G. had one child, Christopher Jordan Wallace Jr. โ€” who was born in 1996. However, their relationship wasnโ€™t always the most pure. B.I.G.โ€™s adultery afflicted the coupleโ€™s marriage, as he often was adulterous with Lilโ€™ Kim and Charli Baltimore.

Biggie met Charli, a Philadelphia model/aspiring rapper, at a party in 1995. B.I.G purportedly fell in love with Baltimore, and Faith soon discovered it. During a radio interview at the time, Evans infamously described Baltimore as the โ€œIlly from Philly.โ€

We recall in a 1997 VIBE interview that the then Bad Boy Entertainment signee delivered perspicuity into the love triangle. He urged that he would always be pals with her and could presumably โ€œget back togetherโ€ in a decade.

โ€œPeople was like, โ€˜When she stopped f**kinโ€™ with B.I.G., she started f**kinโ€™ with Tupac, and B.I.G. started f**kinโ€™ with Lilโ€™ Kim.โ€™ Thatโ€™s the summary of the Biggie Smalls/Faith sh*t right there. But we werenโ€™t f**kinโ€™ with each other way before the rumours popped off.โ€

โ€œI married her after knowing her eight days, and I was happy,โ€ he recalled. โ€œThat was my baby. At the same time, with us being so spontaneous, we did it backwards. Maybe she wonโ€™t admit it, but I will. We should have got to know each other and then got married. The relationship kind of dissolved, but weโ€™re still going to be friends. I love her. We have a baby together, and weโ€™re always gonna love our kids. Who knows? Ten years from now we might even get back together.โ€

Yet, Biggie Smalls was shot in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, at the age of 24.
