Stonebwoy is cocksure he won the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year in 2019 despite the revocation of the category that year.
It will be recalled at the awards ceremony that year, a brawl occurred between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale on stage.
The unfortunate happening brought the award ceremony to a standstill for about an hour. In controlling the disorder powered by the fierce rivalry between the two superstars that night, the organisers did not disclose the winner for the Artiste of the Year category.
The Def Jam record signee, who was again nominated for Artiste of the Year at the 2023 VGMAs, dived into the awful experience 3 years down memory lane in an interview on TV3’s breakfast show on Thursday, May 11, New Day.
He conceded his preliminary wins.
Quoting his exact submissions: โNot to forget that Iโve been here before, I won AOTY in 2015 and went on to win the BET Awards and I think that I won it in 2019 and maybe one day they are going to hand it over because there was a win,โ the 2015 BET Best International Act Award-winner uttered.
Fast forward, thereon returning to the award scheme, Stonebwoy was nominated for the Artiste of the Year category and lost it to Black Sherif.
Accordingly, he congratulated Black Sherif for his hard work and outstanding artistry during the awards.
โShoutout to Blacko, I was chilling with Blacko right there, whoever arranged it, made us sit together, I was chilling with him,โ he commented โCongratulations to everyone who won from King Promise to Epixode, trust me I really enjoyed myself.
Stonebwoy articulated remorse for his misconduct in 2019 and expressed gratitude for the organizers’ and Charterhouse’s relentless endeavour all these years.
โIf they give me the award, Iโll definitely take it. Shoutout to Madam Theresa and Eniola, I personally respect them very much and I know they understand how much I respect Ghana music and definitely, itโs like our Grammys, wherever I go I speak about it, I hold no malice against them,โ he summed up.
